It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a baby eagle rescued by an Arizona sheriff's office!

Construction workers noticed a bird that flew underneath a Mohave County Sheriff's patrol vehicle on July 11. With some quick thinking, a rescue was intiated.

MOHAVE COUNTY, Ariz. — It's not every day you see an eagle — it's even more rare to see an eagle getting a police escort. But that's exactly what happened on July 11 in northwest Arizona.

A Mohave County Sheriff's sergeant was working on an off-duty road construction detail when construction workers noticed a bird that flew underneath the deputy's vehicle. 

The creature was acting strangely and appeared to be in distress, so construction workers, the sergeant and a deputy carefully moved the vehicle and retrieved the bird. 

According to the Arizona Raptor Center, the bird is a juvenile eagle that was separated from its parents. ARC also said the eagle most likely wouldn't have survived had the sergeant not acted quickly and saved the baby bird. 

"We hope our new feathery friend makes a full recovery and want to send our thanks to the Arizona Raptor Center for taking care of him!" The Mohave County Sheriff's Office wrote in a Facebook post.
