Lion cubs make their Predator Passage debut at Phoenix Zoo

The best time to see the cubs, Azizi and Jasiri, is in the morning when it is cooler outside, the zoo says.

PHOENIX — You may have seen two new faces in the Predator Passage lion habitat at the Phoenix Zoo.

That's right, the cat's out of the bag — or should we say cubs!

Lion cubs Azizi and Jasiri made their Predator Passage debut this weekend. While they still have access to their night house and can choose to be inside, you may see them exploring their habitat in the cooler mornings, the zoo said in a news release. Don't miss out on the excitement and see them for yourself at the Phoenix Zoo!

Their first time in the habitat was Friday, Oct. 11.

To get a glimpse of the 4-month-old cubs, head to the zoo in the morning. The zoo is open for members starting at 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. for non-members.

"As typical cat cubs, they spend much of the morning hours rambunctiously playing and then after some time, they retreat into their nighthouse den for a well-deserved, long nap!" the zoo said in a news release. "Please note that while the cubs are getting used to their surroundings, they may not always be visible."

If you have any questions about the new cubs or their mom, Zuri, there are volunteers who will be stationed at the habitat to answer questions about the lions and to give you advice on when and where to see the cubs.

Their aunt, Kamara, will be enjoying some "cub-free time" in a side yard while the cubs settle into the habitat with their mother, the zoo said.

"We will re-introduce her back to the cubs once they have had sufficient time to explore outside," the zoo said.
