ELOY, Ariz. — A goat and dog walked into a Dollar General store Friday morning and needed some help checking out.
The Eloy Fire District responded to the store after the animal friends walked into the facility and followed a patron into a bathroom. The store's staff locked the animals inside and waited for the fire department to arrive.
Firefighters had noticed the duo wandering around a fire station earlier that morning before getting dispatched to the Dollar General.
Upon arrival, the dog was removed and taken to a shelter. But staff didn't have the equipment or facilities to relocate the goat.
The firefighters made friends with the goat until someone with an animal trailer could arrive on scene. The goat was subsequently taken to a farm where the animal will stay until an owner can be found.
The fire district said the owners of the dog or goat can contact Pinal County Animal Control.
