PHOENIX — Bunny the German Shepherd was found 30-feet into an irrigation drain in Phoenix last month. Now, she is looking for her "furever" home.
Emergency animal technicians from the Arizona Humane Society were alerted to an adult dog stuck in an irrigation drain in west Phoenix on Dec. 26, 2023. When the EATs got there, they found a 5-year-old German Shepherd, now affectionately known as Bunny, unable to move. It took three hours to free Bunny from the drain, AHS said.
Once she was out of the drain, EATs were able to see that Bunny had been entangled in old ropes and collars. AHS said as she struggled to break free, she ended up hog-tying herself to her back legs. One of her legs was so severely injured, in needed to be amputated.
After medication and her amputation, Bunny is now happy, healthy and thriving — and ready to find her "furever" home.
As part of the AHS "Big Dog Special," Bunny and any dogs over 50 pounds have waived adoption fees throughout the weekend. To learn more about Bunny and all of the animals up for adoption at AHS, visit the AHS website.
