This isn't the start of a joke, though, it's a video of two bears in the Huachuca Mountains, south of Tucson in the borderlands.
Jeff Wirth, an ecological storyteller focusing on tracking and photographing mountain lions, said he captured the video in late summer.
"I found this really well-fed, spring-fed, pool, and you know, in Arizona, pools like that are normally wildlife magnets," Wirth said. "All the animals around here need that resource, need that water to get through the summers."
The pool Wirth captured in his video is deep, which is perfect for bears and the main reason he set up a camera there.
"Pools that deep are generally used by bears as bear bathtubs or bear wallows," Wirth said. "I've gotten so many bears visiting that exact pool this summer."
Wirth said he had seen both bears individually visiting the pool throughout the summer, but the video he captured a few weeks ago is the first time he's seen the bears together exhibiting "courting playful" bear behavior.
"It led me to believe that these bears, they're probably not siblings, they're probably courting," Wirth said. "So they're probably looking to mate."
The video also shows how biodiverse Arizona is, Wirth said — something people may not know.
"These bears are living with ocelots and jaguars and I think it's so incredibly important for us to protect this habitat," Wirth said.
Wirth has a background in wildlife and environmental conservation. He said as temperatures become hotter and hotter, he sees less wildlife at the springs and pools around Arizona.
"As these water sources are drying up, there's no reason for these animals to make the trek to this spring that historically has had water year-round, but now as its getting hotter and hotter, they don't want to waste the energy to get to that spring for it to be empty," Wirth said.
While the video Wirth captured is certainly adorable, he said he hopes it also drives home for viewers just how important it is to protect animals across State 48.
"Arizona is home to an incredibly biodiverse ecosystem filled with so many different animals," Wirth said. "This habitat and these animals need to be protected."
