3 coyote attacks reported in north Phoenix since Saturday

Three people have been bitten by a coyote in north Phoenix since Saturday. Game and Fish wildlife officers are actively searching for coyotes.

PHOENIX — Three incidents involving a coyote biting a human have been reported in north Phoenix since Saturday, according to the Arizona Game and Fish Department.

The first incident was reported on Saturday after a 4-year-old was bitten on their lower leg while walking with family members. Another incident was reported Saturday after a jogger was bitten by a coyote in the same area.

A third incident was reported Monday morning after a man sustained a coyote bite on his heel.

All three incidents occurred in an area east of Interstate 17 and Happy Valley Road in Phoenix. The three individuals received medical treatment and a rabies shot.

Game and Fish reported capturing one coyote Sunday night and are continuing to search for others.

Coyote sightings in the area bordered between I-17 to 19th Avenue and Pinnacle Peak to Jomax roads can be reported by calling 623-236-7201.

According to Game and Fish, the Phoenix area has had 28 reported coyote-human attacks in the last 26 years.
