ArtPops: Q&A with Jim Sinur

'I love to entertain people’s hearts and minds'

PHOENIX —

Name:

Jim Sinur

How did you get started in the art or music world?

I started young sketching but became serious later in life. I took some painting classes at recreation centers, here in Glendale. I then explored many painting styles and mediums. I also branched out into digital art and fractals.

How would you describe yourself as an artist?

I am a creative first and like to explore new ideas to put them into some form of art output.

What is your favorite medium?

I love to paint in oils best, but I’ve settled into acrylics for safety and environmental reasons.

What motivates you to create?

I love to entertain people’s hearts and minds with my version of light and color interpretation.

What was the inspiration behind the piece selected to be featured as an ArtPop?

I often wondered as a kid how stars were created, so I painted one of my visions of the process. I also imagined interplanetary wars where stars were launched as weapons when I was a little guy.
