Yolanda Garcia-Espinoza is a digital journalist at 12News in Phoenix, Arizona.
She has been with 12News since October 2016. She graduated in 2005 from Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism and a minor in psychology.
Garcia-Espinoza was born in the border town of Agua Prieta, Sonora, and moved to Phoenix when she was 12. She considers herself bilingual and bicultural.
She was the first in her family to graduate from college. She is grateful to her parents for bringing her family to the United States looking for a better life and better future for them.
She has always worked with Hispanic media, from KPHX Radio to an advertising company to Telemundo -- her home for 13 years. While at Telemundo, she had the opportunity to do office work, traffic, programming and sales assisting. From 2008 to 2015, she was on-air talent as well.
Garcia-Espinoza loves to spend time with her family, watching movies, reading or listening to audiobooks with her daughters. She enjoys working out and dancing. She is always looking for opportunities to have a family gathering.
