Stella Sun is a meteorologist and reporter for 12News Today in AZ. She is thrilled to call the Valley of the Sun her home.
Stella is no stranger to the Southwest. She joined Team 12 from KOAT in Albuquerque, where she was the weekend morning weather anchor and reporter. The readers of New Mexico’s largest newspaper, the Albuquerque Journal, chose Stella as 2022's best reporter.
Before that, she worked at KTMF in Missoula, Montana. That’s where she got her start reporting and weather forecasting. While she was in Missoula, Stella enrolled in meteorology classes through Mississippi State University. She finished her meteorology certification in December, 2023.
Stella is a proud graduate of the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University. She double majored in broadcast news and global politics, and received a minor in global studies. She may live in Sun Devil territory but you’ll see her cheering for the Cougs when they play ASU or UA.
She grew up in the greater Seattle area – and yes, she’s a Seahawks fan. She eventually chased the sunshine and warm weather to the desert. She has family in Maricopa County, Los Angeles and Seattle. She’s excited to live closer to the people she loves most.
Off the clock, Stella enjoys eating out, traveling and spending too many hours binging her favorite TV shows. She is excited to explore all the wonders of Arizona.
