Lina Washington is sports reporter/anchor and multi-skilled journalist for 12News, contributing across all shows and platforms. She joined Team 12 in June, 2021.
Prior to joining the 12Sports team, Washington served as a sports anchor and reporter TEGNA sister station, ABC10, KXTV, in Sacramento for four years. At ABC10, she also served as the host of the weekly sports highlight show ‘Toyota Sports Extra’ and helped launch the weekly ‘Sports Standout’ franchise spotlighting local prep stars. Lina’s other highlights include covering the 2019 NBA Finals and the San Francisco 49ers' run to Super Bowl LIV in Miami. A two-time Emmy Award winner, Lina was also recognized with a Northern California Area Emmy Award nomination for her round table discussion on race relations in Sacramento.
Originally from Phoenix, Lina is a graduate of Corona del Sol High School and the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Arizona State University. She began her career at KGET, the NBC affiliate in Bakersfield, CA. During her time as sports director at 17 News, Lina covered everything from Kern County high school sports to NFL Training Camps and the NCAA Elite 8 in Los Angeles.
In her free time, Lina enjoys watching sports (of course), boxing, hiking and diving into a good podcast.
