GLENDALE, Ariz.- On Monday, the Arizona Coyotes bought out the contract of center Antoine Vermette, making him an unrestricted free agent.

The Coyotes said the decision helped make them more flexible as an organization and helps to give some of their younger talent a chance to make an impact.

Vermette has played in over 900 career NHL games and scored 17 goals for the Coyotes last year.
