The quarterfinals are complete in the 4A high school football playoffs in Arizona. Here's a look at the matchups in the semifinals.

It began with 16 teams last week, but after Friday night's action, we are down to just four teams fighting to become the next 5A high school football state champion.

PHOENIX — All across Arizona on Friday night, fans gathered to cheer on their favorite high school football teams as they continued to chase their dreams of becoming state champions. 

From the Open Division to flag football, 12Sports is following all of the action on Friday Night Fever, Arizona's No. 1 and longest-running high school football show! 

In this article, we'll take a look at the 4A playoffs, which now has just four teams vying to become state champs after the quarterfinals on Friday night. 

We'll take a look at the scores and then preview the matchups in the semifinals.

4A Playoffs Quarterfinals Scores 

  • No. 1 Yuma Catholic defeated No. 9 Walden Grove, 28-13 
  • No. 2 AZ College Prep defeated No. 7 Arcadia, 35-14  
  • No. 3 Snowflake defeated No. 6 Prescott, 49-13  
  • No. 4 Mica Mountain defeated No. 5 Thunderbird, 38-14   

4A Playoffs Semifinals Matchups 

No. 1 Yuma Catholic vs. No. 4 Mica Mountain 

  • Yuma Catholic is 11-1 this year with their only loss coming on Sept. 27 to AZ College Prep, 43-29 
  • Mica Mountain is 12-0 this season  
  • This will be the first-ever football game between Yuma Catholic and Mica Mountain, according to MaxPreps.
  • With a win, Mica Mountain will advance to the first state championship game in school history. 
  • With a win, Yuma Catholic will advance to their second-straight 4A state championship and ninth state championship game overall in school history. 
    • YC has won three state championships: 
      • Division V in 2011 
      • Division V in 2013 
      • Division V in 2014 
    • YC lost to Canyon Del Oro in last year's 4A State Championship Game, 35-27

No. 2 AZ College Prep vs. No. 3 Snowflake 

  • AZ College Prep is 11-1 this season, with their only loss coming to Crown Point High School in Indiana 
  • Snowflake is 12-0 this season  
  • This will be the first-ever football game between ACP and Snowflake, according to MaxPreps
  • With a win, ACP will advance to the first state championship game in school history 
  • With a win, Snowflake will advance to their 16th state championship game in school history 
    • Snowflake has won nine state championships: 
      • A in 1982 
      • A Division 1 in 1985 
      • A Division 1 in 1986 
      • A Division 1 in 1988
      • 3A in 1991 
      • 3A in 1992 
      • 3A in 1993 
      • 3A in 2020 
      • 3A in 2021
    • Snowflake made it to the 4A State Championship Game in 2022 but lost to ALA-Gilbert North, 28-14.

No. 1 Yuma Catholic will play No. 4 Mica Mountain and No. 2 Arizona College Prep will play No. 3 Snowflake in the 4A semifinals!

The two semifinal games in 4A will be played next Friday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. and each game will be hosted by the higher-seeded school. 

The winners of the semifinal games will advance to the 4A State Championship Game, which will be played at 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6 at Arizona State University's Mountain America Stadium in Tempe. 

There will be a new state champion in 4A as last year's champion, Canyon Del Oro, was eliminated by Snowflake in the first round of this year's playoffs.
