PHOENIX — The Salt River Tubing is set to open for its 2019 season.
People across the Valley can start tubing down the river starting Saturday.
"Salt River Tubing's Floating Beach Blast has become an Arizona tradition that millions of floaters have enjoyed for over 38 years," Salt River Tubing said in a release.
How do I get to Salt River Tubing?
Salt River Tubing's website lists several directions depending on where you're located in the Valley.
But the easiest way is probably to use the GPS address: 9200 North Bush Highway Mesa, AZ 85215.
When does the tubing start?
The floating festivities will be open seven days a week from 9 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. The latest tube rental is at 1 p.m.
How much does it cost?
The cost is $17 plus tax and fees per person or tube and parking is free. That cost includes tube rental, shuttle bus ride.
The shuttle bus service without the tube rental is $14 plus tax and fees per person or tube.
Salt River Tubing does rent out tubes of different sizes for coolers and ice chests.
According to Salt River Tubing, lost or stolen tubes will result in a charge of $30, which the tuber renter is responsible for.
How long will I be floating?
The Salt River Tubing map shows two points of exit on your floating journey, and the time spent on the river depends on where you start.
Point 1 - Point 2: 2 hours
Point 2 - Point 4: 3 hours
Point 1 - Point 4: 5 hours
What can/should I bring?
First off, you'll need one valid driver's license per five tubes.
Glass containers are not permitted and ice chest and coolers will be checked for glass containers, according to Salt River Tubing.
Being as you'll be in the sun for hours, bring and drink plenty of water. Salt River Tubing suggests drinking one to two bottles of water per hour while floating.
Bring sunblock and apply before and during your float. Also, wearing a hat or visor will help protect your face and head from the sun.
If you're drinking alcohol on your floating adventure, which is not recommended by Salt River Tubing, make sure you have a designated driver.
Make sure you wear tennis shoes or some other type of protective footwear.
Can children tube down the Salt River?
Yes! But all kids MUST, according to Salt River Tubing, meet two requirements or your group will not be allowed to rent tubes or be provided transportation.
Children have to be 8 years old or older and at least 4-feet tall.
"NO EXCEPTIONS ARE PERMITTED TO THIS POLICY!" the company writes on its website.
Life vests are also available for $6 in the snack bar.
Salt River Tubing also says tying tubes together and styrofoam coolers are not recommended.
