ST. GEORGE, Utah — A 48-year-old Mesquite woman heading to her mother's funeral Saturday died after the pickup she was in crashed on Interstate 15 just north of Paragonah.

Authorities identified the woman as Danielle Valle.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, at approximately 7 a.m. MT a 48-year-old man from Hurricane was driving northbound with Valle and another woman on I-15 during a winter storm.

Due to the "wet and icy" road conditions, the man lost control of his 2004 GMC Sierra pickup and slid into the median near mile marker 94 in an area about 10 miles north of Paragonah, according to the report.

The pickup rolled several times and came to a rest on its wheels.

Authorities said Valle and the other passenger were not wearing seatbelts. Valle, sitting in the front passenger seat, was ejected and died from her injuries.

Valle, who was going to Salt Lake City for the funeral, was also carrying her mother's ashes, authorities said.

According to UHP, the second woman, a 28-year-old from Mesquite, suffered serious injuries and was flown by Life Flight helicopter to a hospital. The driver was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Beaver.

According to the report, UHP troopers are searching for Valle's mother's ashes and, when located, will take the ashes to her family members in Salt Lake City.
