MESA, Ariz. — The Mesa Police Department has increased its presence at Mesa High School today due to a social media threat that was circulating online over the weekend.
Police received calls yesterday from parents about a possible threat targeting the East Valley school.
Mesa police said the threat originally targeted the prom on May 11 but the large police presence at the school event resulted in the threat changing to May 13.
The school district's security has assigned more staff to the Mesa High campus and detectives are continuing to investigate the threat.
School remains in session and no incidents have been reported thus far.
