Phoenix hasn't seen rain in 85 days — and that's not even its longest dry streak

And the National Weather Service said there's no rain in the forecast through the Thanksgiving weekend.

Although the few drops on the windshield that Valley resident may have seen Friday morning count in our hearts -- they don't count when it comes to official records.

According to the National Weather Service, Phoenix hasn't experienced "official measurable" rain in 85 days (and still counting). The last time there was rain in the Valley was Aug. 23.

And that's not even the longest dry streak Phoenix has had. It's only the eighth longest on record during the summer, fall and winter period, NWS said.

The longest dry stretch on record, according to NWS, was 160 days in the first half of 1972.

However, this is only the second time there's been no measurable rain during this stretch of months. The other time was 1973.

NWS said there's no rain in the forecast through the Thanksgiving weekend for Phoenix.
