Mother was taking toddlers to play when they were all killed in a fiery crash

Solomon loved adventures and Tova loved sharks and dinos.

MARICOPA- A 46 year-old mother and her two toddlers are the family killed in a horrific crash along the 1-10 Wednesday morning.

Family says Kimberly Frankel was on her way to Chandler to take 5-year-old Solomon Evan Colson and his 3-year-old little sister, Tova Lena Colson to gymnastics and then to play. They would never make it.

Police say a semi-truck is to blame for the fatal five-vehicle pileup that also caused to of those vehicles to burst into flames.

Kimberly’s close friend, Kelley Starai, says she had been invited that morning to join them, but decided not to go.

“We had plans to go to Giggles in Chandler next Wednesday but she said that she had to schedule an appointment for that day and do I want to go today [ Wednesday] and for some reason I just didn’t want to go I just wanted to be lazy and stay home. She said ‘I understand,’” said Kelley.

The children’s father says Solomon and Tova were everything to the family. He says Solomon loved adventures and Tova loved sharks and dinos.

Family says Kimberly decided to quit her middle-school teaching job in Maricopa years ago to focus on being a stay-at-home-mom.

“Amazing mother, friend. I want the world to know how many lives she touched,” said Kelly. She has created a GoFundMe page to help Kimberly’s family as they grieve.
