SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — A man was severely burned after a propane tank exploded in a barbecue at Scottsdale home on Monday evening, firefighters said.
Scottsdale and Phoenix fire crews responded to the area of 90th Street and Shea Boulevard for a house fire call.
Fire officials say the homeowner was using an outdoor barbecue when it exploded.
The man sustained burns to his hands and face. He was driven to Honor Health-Shea Hospital by a family member. He was then airlifted to a local burn center for treatment.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
