The Indian Garden name assigned to a popular Grand Canyon campground has been changed out of respect for a Native American tribe that was displaced by the national park. PHOENIX — If you're looking for something fun to do this weekend, consider heading to a National Park — admission is free in honor of Public Lands Day!

On Sep. 28, to celebrate National Public Lands Day, all national parks that usually charge an admission fee will be free, including some in Arizona like the Grand Canyon.

National Public Lands Day was established in 1994 and is the largest single-day volunteer effort annually, according to the National Park Service.

Last year, more than 130 national parks hosted events with 7,600 volunteers donating 41,500 hours of service, the NPS said.
