At the 2nd annual Missing in Arizona day event at the ASU West College Campus in Glendale families in desperate need of relief walked into room full of resources.

Sgt. Vince Lewis, a spokesperson for the Phoenix Police Department says in Arizona alone there are around 2,000 unsolved missing person’s cases.

“There's also around 1,400 unidentified bodies that the medical examiner's office is aware of and some of those cases could be linked,” Lewis said.

“It could be a story a photo or DNA that helps us close those cases,” said Lewis.

At today's event law enforcement agencies join together with other organizations to gather any information they can from loved ones of the missing to hopefully get them some answers.

Last year the event helped close a missing person's case for 9 different families.

Lewis said 4 persons were found alive, the other five were deceased.

While the endings aren't always happy, many families - having waited for so long are thankful for any sense of closure.
