Chinle High School student arrested for bringing pellet gun to school dance, police say

Navajo Police Department officers were doing a security check at the school's homecoming dance when they got reports that a student may have been armed.

CHINLE, Ariz. — An 18-year-old Chinle High School student was arrested Saturday night for allegedly bringing a pellet gun to the school's homecoming dance, Navajo Police Department officials said.

Officers were doing a security check during the dance when someone reported that a student at the dance may have been armed.

Officers found and arrested the student, who was reportedly carrying a pellet hand gun.

No injuries were reported during the incident and the other students were released back to their parents.

Police are still investigating the incident. The suspected student's identity wasn't released.
