Arrest made in 2022 murder of 19-year-old in Goodyear

The young victim was fatally shot on May 14, 2022 at a house party in Goodyear.

GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Police have recently made an arrest in the 2022 killing of a 19-year-old man at a Goodyear residence.

Angel Hernandez, 18, was taken into custody Wednesday for his alleged involvement in the death of Mohamed Salim Abdullah on May 14, 2022.

Court records show the victim was shot at a house party near Litchfield Road and Western Avenue.

Soon after the killing, police released pictures of security footage that captured three people believed to be involved in the shooting.

One of the individuals in those pictures contacted Goodyear police in June 2022 and said he had driven Hernandez to the house party on the night of the murder. Information provided by the witness helped lead investigators to identify Hernandez as a possible suspect, records show.

Hernandez was booked into the Maricopa County jail and could be facing a charge of second-degree murder.
