BLACK CANYON CITY, Ariz. — Traffic is backed up Monday morning on the northbound lanes of Interstate 17 near Black Canyon City due to a brush fire, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes since traffic is back up about 11 miles between Black Canyon City and Bumble Bee.
ADOT said the incident began as a vehicle fire reported near milepost 251 before the fire spread to some nearby brush.
A pickup truck towing a flatbed trailer loaded with construction supplies apparently overheated and a fire ignited under the vehicle's hood, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
No injuries were reported and DPS expects the roadway to reopen soon.
We will update the story as soon as more information becomes available.
