Despite the Valley and places like Tucson not being known for their winters, the 2018 Winter Olympics Team USA roster features three athletes with Arizona ties.
Their spots take place on ice -- one of which involves hurtling your body down a track head first.
Get to know these Arizona athletes:
Sport: Skeleton
Team USA's "Skeleton King." Matt Antoine took home a bronze medal during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. It was the first skeleton medal for an American in 12 years.
Born in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin Antoine now lives in Phoenix. He started the skeleton in 2003 after watching the 2002 Winter Olympics.
PyeongChang may be his last run.

Sport: Figure skating
Chris Knierim was born in Tucson, but now calls San Diego home. Knierim started figure skating at 12. He skates alongside his wife, Alexa Scimeca Knierim. The two started skating together in 2012 and wed in 2016.
According to his Team USA bio, he hopes to open his own auto shop one day.
The couple is excited for their shot at gold.

Sport: Hockey
The former Yale University Bulldog calls Phoenix his hometown. Little has played professional hockey in Sweden and Switzerland. He currently plays for HC Davos of the Swiss National League.
Little enjoys country music and currently holds the Yale University season and career record for shorthand goals.

The two-time Olympics medalist calls Phoenix home. Shewon silver in Sochi as the pilot of the Team USA two-woman bobsleigh team. She won bronze in Vancouver.
According to here Team USA bio, she has a goal of one day becoming the CEO of the USOC.
