Kevin Towers, the former Arizona Diamondbacks general manager, has passed away from cancer, according to USA Today's Bob Nightengale.
Nightengale tweeted the news saying Towers was "one of the greatest people this game has ever known." He said Towers would be "greatly missed."
Others, like MLB on Fox's Ken Rosenthal, expressed their condolences. Rosenthal said Towers was "one of my all-time favorite people."
Towers was the Diamondbacks GM from 2010-14. Former D-Backs manager and current Houston Astros manager A.J. Hinch revealed Towers was battling cancer during last season's World Series.
Towers was 56.
