Students arrested at Mesa High School with loaded gun, principal says

The initial incident happened on Friday, but administration wasn't made aware until Monday morning.

In a letter to Mesa High School parents, principal Kirk Thomas said the school was made aware on Monday that a student brought a loaded gun to school on Friday and threatened another student with it.

A third student was involved in threatening the other student as well.

Thomas said there were few students within proximity of the incident when it happened and no students reported it when it happened and administration was only made aware this morning.

Administration immediately contacted the school resource officer.

During the day on Monday, the school learned the gun was on campus and in the possession of a fourth student.

The gun was confiscated and the involved students were arrested.

"I am disappointed that these students compromised the safety of everyone at Mesa High School," Thomas said in the letter. "This is not who we are. Thankfully, a student did come forward and report the incident."

This is a developing story and we will update with any new information when it becomes available.
