Spring break in Arizona: The quieter version of Lake Havasu

Beach, boat-in camp sites, water, sunsets and a fisher's haven - those are many of the amenities you will get if you travel just outside of Lake Havasu.

LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. - Lighthouses and the beach reel in spring break revelers to Lake Havasu, but if you're looking for peace and not the crowds, we found some lesser-known parks nearby.

Beach, boat-in camp sites, water, sunsets and a fisher's haven - those are many of the amenities you will get if you travel just outside of Lake Havasu.

Three hours northwest of Phoenix lies the 2,000 acre Cattail Cove State Park on the Colorado River. It's right next door to Lake Havasu State Park, without all of the hustle and bustle.

Here, you can enjoy water sports, plus throwing in a line for catfish. You can take the boat for a spin on blue waters and into quiet coves, or dip your toes in if camping without a boat.

Want a slight change of scenery? Travel 20 minutes south to Buckskin Mountain State Park or River Island State Park. No matter which direction you choose to travel here, white sandy beaches are all at your fingertips for your spring break adventures.
