PHOENIX — Police say a man and a woman have been arrested after a 2-year-old girl died Saturday.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers responded to a call of an unresponsive child Saturday around 9:30 a.m.
Officers found the toddler unresponsive with multiple injuries when they arrived to the scene near 16th Street and Indian School, police said.
Medics arrived and began life-saving measures on the child before she was transported to a nearby hospital where she later died. Medical staff told police the child had obvious signs of child abuse.
Police arrested the caregivers 28-year-old Tayran Slash and 21-year-old Sharonta Adams who are facing homicide and child abuse charges.
Family members have set up a GoFundMe page for the 2-year-old's funeral expenses.
