Phoenix PD searching for more suspects after 74-year-old woman was beaten, robbed

Police say the suspects came in through the doggy door of her home, attacked the woman, and tied her up with a rope and a garden hose.

Police are asking for the public's help in finding the people who broke into a 74-year-old woman's home, beat her up and robbed her.

According to Sgt. Tommy Thompson with the Phoenix Police Department, the woman woke up as she was being severely beaten in her bed at her home near 31st and Northern avenues just after 4 a.m. Tuesday.

Police say the suspects came in through the doggy door, attacked the woman, and tied her up with a rope and a garden hose.

The elderly woman was eventually able to free herself. When she couldn't’t find her phone to call 911 she used her voice activated "Alexa" to call a neighbor for help.

Police believe four suspects were involved. One of them, 20-year-old John Eaves, was arrested Thursday.

Eaves was found driving the woman's stolen car, police say. Eaves ran away from the stolen vehicle but was taken into custody with the help of a police K-9.

Eaves was booked into jail on charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, vulnerable adult abuse and other felony charges.

Anyone who may have information about the crime or remaining suspects is urged to contact Phoenix PD or anonymous tips can be made through Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (948-6377).
