No officers were injured, Phoenix PD said.

PHOENIX - A man who was in critical condition following an officer-involved-shooting Saturday morning is expected to survive his injuries, police said Saturday night.

Phoenix Police responded to a home on West Campbell Avenue around 5 a.m. for a call about a fight. They were met by the caller who said the suspect was inside physically assaulting his girlfriend.

The door of the residence was open and the officers gave commands. When there wasn't a response, officers entered, calling out for the victim and the suspect. According to police, officers heard what sounded like a struggle and a female crying.

Then, officers saw a bedroom door slam shut and then heard what sounded like a shotgun racking behind the door.
