El Mirage boys reunite for the first time since being struck by lightning

Both teens miraculously survived, though they haven't fully recovered.

The 13 year-old boys struck by lightning at Moreno Park in El Mirage last week saw each other again for the first time since getting hit.

Javier Tapia and Josiah Wiedman both felt well and were in good spirits as they spoke to each other.

Josiah says he can’t remember anything that happened, but Javier says he remembers the moment he fell to the ground.

“I couldn’t feel my legs, I couldn’t feel my arms,” said Javier. He says he was yelling at Josiah, but he wasn’t waking up.

Witnesses say a nearby man rushed to the boys’ aid and have Josiah CPS until paramedics arrived.

Both teens miraculously survived, though they haven’t fully recovered.

“My foot still hurts,” said Javier.

“My legs hurt occasionally,” said Josiah.

Josiah did suffer a concussion, which is what has doctors keeping a close eye on him.

That’s why his parents are still asking for support to cover the burden of medical expenses. They set up a GoFundMe account, you can donate here.
