PHOENIX — A structure fire burned 15 vehicles in a lot in west Phoenix on Thursday, authorities said.

Phoenix fire crews were dispatched to the area of 35th Avenue and Indian School Road for reports of a structure fire at 9:45 a.m., authorities said. When firefighters got to the scene, they found multiple vehicles on fire at an auto body shop.

Because of the heat, Phoenix fire dispatched 30 to 40 firefighters, which allowed some to rest while others battled the fire. Captain Todd Keller at the Phoenix Fire Department said there were double the number of firefighters at the scene than normal.

A utility company was also dispatched to the area for multiple downed power lines, authorities said.

The address where the fire occurred is listed for Showtime Kustom Paint and Body, as well as PM Auto Repair. Authorities said the cause of the fire is unknown.
