Police: Impairment likely a factor in Mesa crash that killed 1 person, injured 4 others

On Friday, Mesa police identified 32-year-old Isabel Hernandez as the person killed in the crash. Police said three other passengers in the vehicle are in "serious condition" at a hospital.

MESA, Ariz. - A crash in Mesa left one person dead and four others injured Thursday morning, according to the Mesa Fire Department.

Mesa FD said the crash involved two vehicles just south of McKellips on Mesa Drive.

On Friday, Mesa police identified 32-year-old Isabel Hernandez as the person killed in the crash. Police said three other passengers in the vehicle are in "serious condition" at a hospital.

Mesa PD said the female driver of the other, "suspect," vehicle was also taken to a hospital.

"Initial indications show that impairment may have been a factor in the accident," police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
