Everywhere A to Z: Pioneer Living History Museum

Activities feature a blacksmith shop, gold panning and wild west gunfights with costumed interpreters including cowboys, lawmen, and Victorian ladies.

PHOENIX — The Pioneer Living History Museum is truly a time capsule and time machine all in one.

Located about two miles north of the Carefree Highway, the 90-acre property features dozens of original and reconstructed buildings dating back to the 1800's.

“Buildings taken from all over Arizona to represent different regions, so you get a real taste of Arizona history from the Territorial Days," said Karen Chen with Pioneer Living History Museum.

Buildings include an old school house, an opera house where Lily Langtry performed and multiple cabins including the Ashurst Cabin, boyhood home of Senator Henry Ashurst along with the Flying V Cabin which survived the Pleasant Valley War.

"There's a lot of history in our buildings," said Chen.

Activities feature a blacksmith shop, gold panning and wild west gunfights with costumed interpreters including cowboys, lawmen, and Victorian ladies.

You can even get married in the old 1880's church.
