COTTONWOOD, Ariz. — The pilot was injured and the airplane is a "total loss" after a crash in Cottonwood Monday morning, police said.
According to Cottonwood police, authorities responded to the scene of the crash to find the single-engine Bonanza Beechcraft on fire.
The 70-year-old pilot, according to police, was able to escape the wreckage, but had serious injuries. He was flown to a burn center for medical treatment.
Police said the pilot was the only person on board the plane.
The plane crashed near a home, which had minimal structural damage, police said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, but the pilot said his engine had stopped, according to police.
