Domestic disturbance call turns into deadly officer-involved shooting

A deadly officer-involved shooting is under investigation by the Mohave County Sheriff's Office.

KINGMAN, Ariz. - A deadly officer-involved shooting is under investigation by the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

In the body camera video released by the Kingman Police Department, Officer Jace Reif, is seen answering a domestic disturbance call at the Zuni Village RV Park on Saturday, February 10, around 8:15 P.M.

Reif is heard multiple times asking someone to step out of the RV.

“Police. Come out with your hands up!” Reif yells.

Then again, “Police. Come out with your hands up! Do it now!”

The man police identify as 63-year-old Michael Weber steps out, unwelcoming. Weber is heard yelling, “Get out of here!”

Reif yells one last time, “Hands up bud!”

A firearm is visible in Weber’s right hand. Weber slowly closes his RV door to the left of him, and as he opens it back up, Reif fires four shots.

“Shots fired. He pointed the gun at me. Oh, let’s get medical here now,” Reif says into his radio.

Investigators said Weber was holding a semi-automatic pistol.

In a press release the following Thursday, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office announced it was investigating the officer-involved shooting.

The document states, “Personnel attempted life saving techniques on scene,” but Weber did not survive.

The Kingman Police Department said this is Officer Reif’s seventh year working in law enforcement and his second year with the Kingman PD. Reif was placed on administrative leave pending the findings of the investigation.
