Police searching for answers after 2 men shot a dog in a west Phoenix park

Police say one of the men held up the dog while the other pulled out a gun at West Plaza Park.

PHOENIX — The Phoenix Police Department is offering a reward for information that leads to an arrest after two men were seen shooting a dog in a West Valley park last month.

According to Silent Witness investigators, children were seen playing with a loose dog in West Plaza Park on Jan. 13. A group of men were also in the park that day playing football.

Two of the men began provoking the dog and the situation turned violent. According to police, one of the men held up the dog by its collar and the other pulled out his gun and shot the dog in the head, killing the animal.

Police say the shooting happened around noon that Sunday.

The two men fled from the park after the shooting.

Investigators are seeking any information about this animal cruelty incident.
