How to keep your teen safe on livestreaming app Twitch

New warnings about questionable content on app for teens.

A warning for parents about a popular app specifically for gamers.

Twitch lets gamers livestream video games and chat with other players, but does it cross a line. The good news is twitch app users must be at least 13 years old, but because the interactions are live, they're harder to censor

Gaming is more popular than ever, and now apps like Twitch let you livestream your action-packed programs while interacting with other players or simply be a spectator.

Some say the pros for the 100 million-plus users per month are that the app provides entertainment, connects users to big players on YouTube and reveals secrets to certain games.

The downside is that the live footage makes censorship tough, and some content isn't meant for teens, parents say.

In fact, a quick online search of the app reviews shows a laundry list of complaints about it and what parents should watch out for sexually explicit content and chat rooms where predators may use grooming tactics aimed at teen users.

Parenting experts say there are a few ways to keep your kids safe:

- Delete the account completely.

- Supervise your child when they're using the app

- Block strangers who send private messages

Lastly, experts say look up a tool called Family Zone to add time limits on when they can watch the content.
